A common, and often
frustration oral condition, xerostomia can be caused by
- numerous
drugs , (prescription and over the counter)
- salivary gland disease
- smoking
- cancer radiation therapy (to which saliva glands are
very sensitive)
- habitual mouth breathing
- Other diseases
Besides the discomfort, inadequate saliva can cause increased tooth
decay, gum problems, bad breath and digestion problems.
