GENERAL DENTAL SERVICES INCLUDE:

Preventive Dental Care  – includes all your essential dental services such as, full dental examinations, teeth  cleanings, fluoride treatment, dental x-rays, and Prevora anti-cavity treatment.

Children’s Dentistry – The oral health of children from infancy through the teen years. Special care and attention is needed for a child’s teeth, gums, and mouth throughout the various stages of childhood.

Air Abrasion – Air abrasion is a way to remove stains or decay from a tooth without using a dental drill.  A powerful air stream of tiny aluminum oxide particles are sprayed out of its tip onto the tooth.

Oral Sedation – is used for pain relief during dental procedures. Also known as “Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Sedation (laughing gas), has been used by dentists for nearly 100 years.  At Doon South Dental we are committed  to providing all our services in a comfortable, relaxed patient-centred environment. We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for patients who prefer treatment with this additional comfort.

Sealants – are used to fight against tooth decay on at risk, vulnerable teeth. A plastic resin is applied to the chewing surfaces of your teeth, bonding into the depressions and grooves of teeth acting as a barrier, protecting enamel from bacteria, plaque and acids.

Fillings – Fillings are done as a way to repair damaged, decayed or worn teeth. Various filling options are available depending on what best is suited for you, including metal, alloy, plastic or porcelain fillings.

Crowns (Caps) – Crowns can be used to for many reasons such as strengthen and/or improve the appearance of  a tooth. It can be used for discolored or badly shaped teeth, supporting a tooth with a large filling, aiding in attaching a bridge, protecting a weak tooth from breaking or restoring  a tooth that is already broken or covering a dental implant.

Endodontics/ Root Canals – At Doon South Dental, we know that there are few dental procedures as scary as root canals. The root canal is actually the soft core, or dental pulp, of the tooth. When there is disease or injury to the tooth’s soft core, the dentist has to find out what is wrong and figure out the best way to treat it. Usually, this means the dentist needs to remove the diseased or damaged pulp, clean the pulp chamber and root canal(s) of the tooth, and then seal it.

Bridgework/Prosthetics – A bridge is a partial denture used to replace missing teeth. The dentist, bridges the gap between the missing teeth with artificial ones. The bridge can be made out of gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these. A removable bridge can be taken out any time. A fixed bridge can only be removed by a dentist.

Dentures – A Denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available – complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

SPECIALIZED DENTAL SERVICES INCLUDE:

Orthodontics –  Dental braces are devices used in orthodontics that align and straighten teeth and help to position them with regard to a person’s bite, while also working to improve dental health.

Recent advancements in braces and retainers have made a great improvement from those in the past. They are less painful, more choices, and if you want, nearly invisible. Orthodontics are a necessity for anyone with protruding, crowded or misaligned and/or irregularly spaced teeth. We also offer Invisalign.

Dental Implants – A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Using oral surgery, the dentist can permanently attach an artificial root or anchor a tooth directly to the jaw to provide a long lasting and reliable replacement. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.

Periodontics – is the specialization in treating and prevention of gum and tissue diseases. Our dental team will use deep cleaning to prevent gum disease, temporomandibular joint (TMJ), facial pain, oral inflammation and headaches.  Doon South Dental provides Perio Protect, the treatment and prevention of gum disease.

COSMETIC DENTAL SERVICES INCLUDE:

Teeth Whitening – Teeth whitening is a simple process. Whitening products contain tooth bleaches such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide are applied to the teeth. These bleaches break stains into smaller pieces, which makes the color less concentrated and your teeth brighter.  At Doon South Dental, we use several kinds of whitening products for the in-office portion of the treatment. We may also give you a kit to take home for you to continue the treatment program to help you achieve the whitest, brightest smile possible.

Inlays and Veneers – Dental veneers or porcelain veneers/laminates are thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth changing their color, shape, size, or length. Veneers are also used when constructing crowns. Veneers can be made of porcelain, ceramic, acrylic resin, or composites.
